Ban on entry to Sweden from countries outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland
There is a ban on non-essential travel to Sweden from countries outside the EU/EEA. This ban applies to foreign nationals and remains in effect until 31 January 2022. There are a number of exemptions to the ban based on work or studies, family connections or urgent family reasons, as well as a number of countries whose residents are exempted.
Foreign nationals over the age of 12 who meet one of the exemptions in the entry ban, or are travelling from a country that is exempt from the entry ban must present a negative result from a Covid-19 test when entering Sweden. Tests acknowledged are antigen tests or PCR/NAAT-tests. The test need to be taken within 48 hours before arrival.
The entry restrictions will always be applied based on the last country from which you travel into Sweden, not the country of origin where the journey began. This also applies when transiting.
Read more about who and which countries are exempted at the Swedish Police website.
